ABC WACO

reNEW Campaign

COMMITMENT SUNDAY: DECEMBER 14

On Sunday, December 14, individuals and families who attend ABC-Waco will have the opportunity to formally make a financial commitment to give to the reNEW campaign over the next two years.  Commitments should be above what is ordinarily given to the church.

Commitment cards will be distributed at the worship service on Sunday, December 7.

Leading up to Commitment Sunday, the Elders of ABC-Waco have called for a week devoted to praying and preparing our hearts to give.  Each day features a reading on the theme of “Giving to Jesus”, and there are various activities scheduled throughout the week.  Please note that there will be a church-wide day of fasting and prayer, beginning on Thursday evening and concluding on Friday evening.  The Church will be open on Friday afternoon for individuals or groups to pray through the building.  We are also inviting individuals and families to sign up for one of the prayer walks around the grounds of the church on Saturday.

pray

Please continue to be in prayer for ABC-Waco and Spring Forth Deaf Church as we embark on this exciting new chapter in the life of our churches.  In particular, pray that we would seek and clearly discern God's will; that God would provide through the generosity of his people, both for the reNEW Campaign and for our General Fund; that this effort would unify and build the faith of God's people and glorify his name.

background and vision

In 2020, ABC-Waco enlisted RBDR Architects to prepare a Master Plan for our facilities, which would include the construction of a new sanctuary.  In September, the Governing Board unanimously recommended that the church undertake the first phase of construction by building a new 2000 sq. ft. “Welcome Center” adjacent to the current Family Life Center and renovating the existing lavatories in the Family Life Center and outside the Fellowship Hall, to bring them up to code.  The estimated cost for this initial phase is $871,000, and the church currently has over $700,000 in its building fund.  The proposed “Welcome Center” is a necessary element of the new sanctuary, and building it now will help meet current capacity needs while locking in part of the construction costs that are rising faster than general inflation.

At the same time, the church is weighing more modest updates to our existing facilities, including:
  1. Updates to the Fellowship Hall and Children's Areas
  2. Updates to the worship space in the Family Life Center
  3. Updates to signage throughout the campus
  4. Updates to the office wing
  5. Resealing and restriping of the parking lot

The elders have set a tentative goal of raising $300,000 over the next two years for both the construction of the Welcome Center, the renovation of the existing lavatories, and the completion of the various updates listed above.
