Invite your One
This fall, Alliance Bible Church-Waco is engaging in a church-wide effort to reach our neighbors with the gospel. Our goal is for each person in the church to identify a person in their life who does not know Jesus or who is estranged from the church. We want to pray for this person, get to know them, and build a relationship so that we can share the life and love of Jesus Christ with them. The Initiative has three phases:
PHASE 1: SEEK
During the month of August, each person is invited to seek God’s will through prayer, asking God, “Who’s my One?" Who in my life is God calling me to reach with the life and love of Jesus?” When you have a name, pick up a “Who’s Your One?” card in the foyer and write your name and the name of your One. Then, drop your card in the box located in the foyer of the church or in the offering plate on Sunday, so that we can begin praying with you.
PHASE 2: PRAY
We are devoting the month of September to praying daily for our One. As soon as we receive your “Who’s Your One?” card, we will begin praying for you and your One. Our prayer team is dedicated to praying for you and your One at least once per week through the end of November.
PHASE 3: INVITE
Between October and November, we will be reaching out to our One and inviting them to coffee or lunch, to our home for a meal or just to hang out, or to visit our church on a Sunday. When you have invited your One, complete an “Invite Your One” card and drop it in the box located in the foyer.
The timing is flexible. Ultimately, our schedule must be set by the Spirit. Some may extend an invitation or have a spiritual conversation with their One before October. Others may not have a spiritual conversation with their One until sometime next year. Some may have just one person in mind; others may have several people. Some will have their invitations accepted; others will be declined. Ultimately, we must submit ourselves to the Spirit and allow Him to use us.
