Welcome to Awana at Alliance Bible Church

Awana is a Christ-centered, Bible-based ministry committed to reaching children and youth with the gospel of Christ. Weekly programs promote an atmosphere of fun and excitement as young people learn at a local church. The acronym AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. The key verse of Awana is II Timothy 2:15: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Awana has been variously described as: a message, a tool, an experience, and a way to reach around the world.

A Message: It's the best message a child, young person, or adult could ever receive: "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." (Eph. 2:8-9) Children, teens and adults find hope for eternal life in the finished work of Christ on the cross.

An Experience: Awana offers a unique combination of fun and games PLUS Bible-based learning. Young people hear a clear presentation of the gospel and memorize Scripture according to a systematic plan for learning key Bible doctrines. In addition to weekly club meetings, Awana special events bring added excitement and opportunities for spiritual growth and outreach to parents.

Reaching Around the World: Churches in at least 103 countries use Awana. Youth around the world learn about Christ and hear the message of salvation in local churches through Awana. Awana materials have been translated into more than 20 languages. Awana has short-term missions opportunities to many areas of the world through its Missionary-In-Training program.
